ELL Completes Modified Summer and Fall Baseball Seasons

The Covid 19 Pandemic resulted in the league not having a regular season for the first time since its inception in 1969. However we were able to successfully run a modified program for players age 10-13 from July through October.

The program during the summer months began in July with practicing fundamentals in groups of eight players with two coaches leading the drills. In August, the players progressed to competitive drills and scrimmage situations. The coaches and players did a great job of following the guidelines mandated by the state and local authorities, including social distancing rules and wearing of masks.

During the fall we had three teams that practiced during the week and played double headers on Saturday. The games were played on the Intermediate (50/70) diamond on Sheehan Field, which was a new experience for these players.

We are looking forward to the spring season where we hope to be able to play baseball and softball at all levels.
